Forest of Dean on 15th August. We are staying at the
Bracelands Campsite near to Symond's Yat. This is a great centre for
walking, limestone climbing, cycling and canoeing. The Grid Reference on the Calendars page of this website refers to the campsite buildings, but the one on the Forest Holidays website appears to refer to the beginning of the campsite's drive. About the Club The aims of the club are to promote mountaineering, hill walking, climbing and related activities, both in Britain and abroad. Those who enjoy these activities at any level are welcome. Activities Weekend trips are organized regularly to the Lake District, North Wales and upland Britain, with longer duration expeditions to Scotland, and destinations in Europe. Recent trips have included the Western Alps, Julian Alps in Slovenia, Picos de Europa , Sierra Guderrama and Sierra Nevada, all in Spain. Accommodation on trips varies from mountaineering club huts and hostels to camping. The Club also has an active social programme with meals out, theatre trips, pub evenings and BBQ's etc The Club has a library of mountaineering books and video tapes. A full list can be downloaded here as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. Meetings The Club meets formally at 9.00pm on the first Wednesday of every month at the Bedford Rowing Club (click here for map). Informal meetings are held every Wednesday at the same location from about 9.30pm onwards. If you are interested in finding out more or joining the Club, you are welcome to come along to the Rowing Club on a Club night, and to join in a trip before committing yourself. Our membership is open to everyone over the age of 18 years and the subscription is £16.00 per year which includes Third Party insurance through our affiliation to the British Mountaineering Council.
